Welcome to a New School Year!!!
I am excited to welcome all of our students, parents, and staff to a new school year! I know everyone will have a great year with much to learn and new programs in place.
There are a few new changes for our students and staff. First, I am pleased to announce that Southwest Foodservice Excellence (SFE) will provide all of our meals. The choices and quality of food will be a pleasant experience for everyone. We encourage parents to come and try out our new menus by joining your child for breakfast or lunch. We just ask that you let the school office know a day in advance and pay for your meal.
For those that remember D’Nealian Handwriting, you will see it in all of our schools. Math 20/20 will continue for all of our students in grades K-6. Junior and Senior high school students will have ASU, GCU, and Northland Pioneer on campus. Watch for a new theme throughout the school: “There is NO “D” in Miami – No Drugs, No Drunks, No Dummies, No Drama”.
As a support to our No “D” in Miami, the majority of our teachers attended a summer training called “Capturing Kids’ Hearts”. After being through the program, I can see how impactful this will be in our classrooms, schools, and district. Respect for all will increase throughout our district.
I would like to welcome all of the teachers that are new to our district and I am sure you will be pleased with their teaching expertise. Please join me in welcoming them to our community.
Parents a quick reminder – your child(ren) will be successful in school when they attend school daily and are on time. Please help us with this important step in their obtaining their education.
Have a wonderful year!
Sincerely,
Sherry Dorathy, Ed. D.
Superintendent
